Escape to Paradise: Lombok's Living Asia Resort & Spa Awaits
Escape to Paradise: Lombok's Living Asia Resort & Spa - A Review That's Actually Real (and Maybe Overly Detailed)
Okay, alright, buckle up buttercups, because I just got back from Escape to Paradise: Lombok's Living Asia Resort & Spa, and let me tell you, it was…an experience. And I'm about to unload that experience on you, warts and all. Forget those perfectly polished travel blogs. This is the real deal, the messy, opinionated, wonderfully weird truth.
First Things First: Getting There & Getting Around (Accessibility Concerns…and Some Rambling)
Lombok. Sounds exotic, right? Getting there…well, that depends. If you're worried about accessibility, I need to be brutally honest. Accessibility isn't their strongest suit. While they advertise "facilities for disabled guests," it’s still a work in progress. I saw an elevator, which is good, and they do have facilities for disabled guests, including a wheelchair, but the terrain around the resort is… hilly. Think lush, beautiful hills, but hills nonetheless. So, if you’re relying on a wheelchair, definitely contact them ahead of time and grill them on specific pathways and room adjustments. I’m not saying it’s impossible, just that you should be prepared and proactive.
Once you ARE there, though, they offer a car park [free of charge] and car park [on-site] which is super handy. Plus, taxi service is readily available. I ended up using the airport transfer because, well, I hate haggling after a long flight.
Rooms and the Question of Chill
The rooms! Let's talk details, baby. I stayed in a… well, a room. Let's just say it was a room with a lot of stuff. I'm not sure what type of room I had, but
Available in all rooms: Additional toilet, Air conditioning, Alarm clock, Bathrobes, Bathroom phone, Bathtub, Blackout curtains, Carpeting, Closet, Coffee/tea maker, Complimentary tea, Daily housekeeping, Desk, Extra long bed, Free bottled water, Hair dryer, High floor, In-room safe box, Interconnecting room(s) available, Internet access – LAN, Internet access – wireless, Ironing facilities, Laptop workspace, Linens, Mini bar, Mirror, Non-smoking, On-demand movies, Private bathroom, Reading light, Refrigerator, Safety/security feature, Satellite/cable channels, Scale, Seating area, Separate shower/bathtub, Shower, Slippers, Smoke detector, Socket near the bed, Sofa, Soundproofing, Telephone, Toiletries, Towels, Umbrella, Visual alarm, Wake-up service, Wi-Fi [free], Window that opens,
I had a desk, which meant I did some work in the mornings, and I really enjoyed that. The air conditioning was a godsend. The blackout curtains were perfect for sleeping in, which I did plenty of. The Complimentary tea was nice. The mini-bar was a little pricey, but hey, vacation! I did get to enjoy free bottled water. I definitely needed a bathrobe, I can not stress that enough. I'm someone who has to have a Reading light in my room at all times.
The Internet Saga (Wi-Fi, LAN, and the Eternal Struggle)
Alright, the internet. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! They trumpet it. Now, for me, a digital nomad, Wi-Fi is LIFE. Sometimes it was lightning fast, and other times… well, let's just say I developed a deep appreciation for the patience of loading bars. Internet access - LAN was also available, but who still uses that these days, am I right? I tried to work on my laptop workspace a few times. It was nice.
On-Site Eats and Drinking (The Food Coma Cometh)
The restaurant scene at Escape to Paradise is… varied. Let's start with the good. The Asian breakfast buffet was actually pretty darn good. Think fresh fruit, noodle soup, and all sorts of delicious mystery foods I happily devoured. They also offer Western breakfast if you're feeling less adventurous. Breakfast [buffet], Breakfast service, and Asian breakfast are easy and delicious. I hit up the coffee shop more than once and I'm proud to admit it. Coffee/tea in restaurant was a nice option as well.
The spa and wellness stuff: (Body Scrubs and Sauna Dreams)
Ah, the spa. This is where things truly became "Escape to Paradise." I mean, seriously. Foot bath, Gym/fitness, Pool with view, Sauna, Spa, Spa/sauna, Steamroom, and Swimming pool are all waiting. I got a massage. It was so good I almost cried. I think I may have actually snorted a little bit at one point. Okay, I definitely snorted. (Don't judge. It was a phenomenal massage). They also had a Body scrub and a Body wrap, although I didn't partake of those.
Cleanliness and Safety (because, you know, the Times)
Look, in the current climate, this is CRUCIAL. And I was pleasantly surprised. Anti-viral cleaning products were in use, and I saw Daily disinfection in common areas. I liked the Hand sanitizer. Rooms sanitized between stays, too. This is a company that cares. They had a First aid kit as well.
For the Kids (and Us Adults Pretending to Be Kids)
While I didn't bring any little ones, I did appreciate the offerings. Babysitting service, Family/child friendly, and Kids facilities.
Services and Conveniences (The Little Things That Matter)
They have a concierge! And let me tell you, that concierge saved me a couple of times. I also appreciated the currency exchange service. The Daily housekeeping team did an amazing job. Luggage storage was super helpful. They had Laundry service, which was perfect.
Things to Do (Beyond Just Lazing Around)
Aside from the spa, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. The Swimming pool [outdoor] is beautiful. I'm pretty sure they had a Poolside bar, though I didn't get round to it (too busy with the spa, obviously). And I did appreciate the terrace.
Safety and Security (Peace of Mind)
They have CCTV in common areas and even CCTV outside property, which I always appreciate. There is a Fire extinguisher and Smoke alarms. I always feel safer when I know there's a Front desk [24-hour] staff ready to take care of me.
Final Verdict (The Honest Truth)
Escape to Paradise: Lombok’s Living Asia Resort & Spa is not perfect. But it is a genuinely lovely place to unwind. It's got its quirks, its minor imperfections. If you are looking for an accessible resort, double check with them before you book. But ultimately, if you want relaxation, delicious food, and the chance to bliss out in a spa, this is a solid choice.
My Own Personal Highlight - And Why You Should Consider It
Okay, so here's my little secret: I loved the steam room. There, I said it. I spent a good hour just sweating, smelling the eucalyptus, and letting all the stress melt away. It was pure, unadulterated bliss.

Living Asia Resort and Spa: Lombok - A Human's Attempt at Paradise (with coffee dependencies)
Day 1: Arrival & The Great Bungalow Panic
- Morning (or, more accurately, "Slightly Late Morning" - thanks, jet lag!): Arrived at Lombok International Airport (LOP). Smooth customs. Bonus points for the friendly customs officer who actually smiled at my attempt at Indonesian. (Probably because I looked like a bewildered duckling.) Pre-booked shuttle from the airport to Living Asia. The drive was… well, it was Lombok. Green, lush, dusty, and motorcycles overflowing with everything from chickens to families. Instantly felt the tropical air hit my face and I felt the first sign of relief. A total contrast to the cold weather back home.
- Mid-morning: Check-in at Living Asia. The lobby? Gorgeous. That picture-perfect, Instagram-worthy lobby. Immediately, I was overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the place. The smells of frangipani and something vaguely spicy. The Great Bungalow Panic: They assigned me a bungalow… which wasn't the one I booked. Cue my internal panic. My, "I'm on vacation and I refuse to be the 'Karen' type!" brain frantically battled my "I've spent a small fortune to be here and I want what I paid for!" brain. Ended up charming (or rather, begging with wide eyes - works every time) a lovely staff member who miraculously found me a room like the one in the photos. Crisis averted (mostly).
- Lunch: The "Asian Fusion" restaurant. Ordered the nasi goreng. It was… okay. Needed more chili. Seriously though, I'm starting to suspect I have a chili deficiency. Slightly disappointed, but the view of the infinity pool from the restaurant more than made up for it.
- Afternoon: Unpacked. Tried the pool. It's as unbelievably beautiful as the pictures promise. Spent a glorious hour just floating and staring at the sky. Complete and utter bliss. Then… disaster. Realized I forgot sunscreen. Again. (Note to self: Become a more organized human.)
- Evening: Sunset cocktails at the beach bar. The sun dips into the sea, painting the sky in fiery hues. Ordered an overpriced, delicious, and utterly necessary Mojito. Strolled along the beach. The sand is ridiculously soft. I mean, marshmallow soft. Dinner at the beachfront restaurant. Fresh seafood. Delicious. Felt that first day's tiredness hit me.
- Quirky Observation: The geckos. They are everywhere. Cute little guys, but they make the most bizarre chirping/clicking noises. They're like tiny, reptilian opera singers.
Day 2: Spa Day (Or, The Day I Almost Became a Noodle)
- Morning: Woke up. Needed coffee. Desperately. Coffee from the room was terrible. Found a cafe, thankfully. Ordered a double espresso. Life restored. Breakfast was a buffet of deliciousness. So much fruit.
- Mid-morning: Spa time! This was the reason I booked this place! I was ready to be pampered. The spa itself is a haven. Dim lighting, soothing music, that amazing spa smell… pure zen. I tried the Balinese massage.
- The Incident: Partway through the massage, the masseuse (bless her kind heart) started kneading my shoulders. Which, apparently, are even more tense than I thought. I yelped. Loudly. She paused, looking concerned. I mumbled something about being "a tense noodle." She just smiled and kept going. It hurt… but in a good way. Then, it was over and I walked out of the spa feeling like a new woman.
- Lunch: Back to the restaurant. This time I ordered Indonesian food. The fried noodles were simply amazing.
- Afternoon: Lounged by the pool. Read a book. Napped. Bliss.
- Emotional Reaction: A profound sense of contentment washed over me. I felt… happy. Relaxed. For once, the world's little annoyances seemed to fade away. This is what people are looking for.
- Evening: Another glorious sunset. This hotel, I swear, has some sort of deal with the sun. Dinner at the "Living Asia" restaurant. The lighting was just perfect and I was ready to relax
- Opinionated Observation: Okay, the portions are a bit small. But the food is fantastic. Seriously. Go for the satay. You won't regret it.
Day 3: Sasak Culture & The Motorcycle Mayhem (aka, My Near-Death Experience)
- Morning: Decided to be adventurous. Booked a tour to a Sasak Village. Needed to get out of the resort bubble.
- Mid-Morning: The tour was… interesting. Learned about the Sasak people (the indigenous people of Lombok), their traditional houses, and weaved some cool cloth. Enjoyed the experience, but it felt a little… staged. Like, I was a guest in a real life museum.
- Quirk: The women in the village were incredibly skilled weavers. My weaving attempt resembled something a deranged toddler would create. I quickly abandoned my efforts and stuck to watching the masters.
- Lunch: At a local Warung (small restaurant). Chicken curry. Spicy. Delicious. Almost cried from the heat. But I survived.
- Afternoon: Rental motorcycle… BAD IDEA. Lombok roads are… let's just say "challenging." The traffic is a free-for-all, the roads are potholed, and EVERYONE is honking. I managed to get to a viewpoint, which was wonderful, but getting there was a white-knuckle experience. I am convinced with a very very very small amount of skill anybody can drive a scooter.
- The Near-Death Anecdote: Almost got sideswiped by a truck. My life flashed before my eyes. Thought about all the things I hadn't done. Swore off motorcycles forever.
- Evening: Back at the resort. Needed a drink. Several drinks. Ordered a giant, celebratory cocktail. Dinner. Watched the sunset (again - still amazing). Walked the beach. Finally felt safe.
- Emotional Reaction: A combination of exhilaration (from surviving the motorcycle ride) and exhaustion (from the constant sensory overload).
Day 4: Beach Day, Regrets, & Flight Prep
- Morning: Woke up. Sore. Mentally and physically. Needed the ocean. Spent the morning swimming.
- Mid-Morning: Attempted snorkeling. Saw some fish. The water was crystal clear. Enjoyed the feeling of being weightless.
- **Lunch: Poolside. Started the packing process in my head. Realized I had 35 minutes to get to the airport after lunch and got a bit flustered.
- Afternoon: Tried to fit in another spa treatment. The hotel was fully booked.
- Evening: The last sunset. Bittersweet. Felt a pang of regret that I hadn't done more, seen more. Wasn't ready to go. Said goodbye to the resort.
- Night: Flight from Lombok International Airport (LOP). Said goodbye to Lombok, taking a last look at the land surrounding the resort.
- Final Thoughts: Living Asia was beautiful. The staff were lovely. The food was good. But it's not just about the hotel. It's about the experience. The chaos. The moments of pure bliss. The near-death experiences and delicious food. Lombok, you were amazing. And I'll be back, but maybe not on a motorcycle.
This, is the end. Until next time.
